Coastal living with nightlife and diaspora appeal
Aberdeen is the heart of west Freetown’s expat and diaspora community. Ocean breeze, restaurants along the peninsula, and some of the best serviced apartments in the country. If you want modern amenities without leaving the city, this is the first place to look.

Aberdeen sits on the narrow strip that connects Freetown to the airport ferry at Kissy. It is famously home to Atlantic Road, the strip of bars, restaurants and hotels that come alive at night. International workers, NGO staff, and returning Sierra Leoneans make up a large share of the rental market, which keeps both quality and prices higher than inland neighbourhoods.
Most properties here are short-stay serviced apartments, 2-3 bed flats in small apartment blocks, or compounds behind walled gates. Generator backup is standard, water supply is typically a mix of municipal + borehole, and fibre internet is available from more providers than anywhere else in Freetown.
Watch for traffic during rush hour - the single road into Aberdeen becomes a bottleneck. If you work in the CBD, budget 45 minutes each way during peak times, or consider short-stay options during the week and returning to your main residence at weekends.
